Education Ministry, AVSI organization discuss cooperation in educational field

Damascus, SANA- Director of Planning and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Education, Youssef Annan, discussed with representatives of the Italian organization AVSI in Syria the reality of vocational education, means to develop it and link its outcomes to the labor market.

During a meeting held on Tuesday at the Ministry building in Damascus, the organization’s program director in Syria, Valera Ursuland, explained the organization’s work mechanism and the services it provides in the vocational education sector and the crafts in which training is provided, in order to link them to the needs of the labor market in Syria.

Ursuland reviewed the services provided by the organization, including studies on the reality of schools and their restoration, methods of compensating for the educational loss of dropout students, holding reinforcement courses for them, providing psychological and social support programs for educational cadres and students, participating in the back-to-school campaign, and distributing school bags and stationery to a number of students at the beginning of the next academic year.

‏For his part, Annan stressed the ministry’s readiness to provide all facilities that would contribute to developing vocational education and enhancing the educational process in general.
He pointed out the importance of partnership with international organizations working in the education sector.

Annan underlined the mechanism adopted by the Ministry to enable organizations to provide their services according to needs, pointing out the priorities that must be started with to improve the quality of education and its outcomes.
