Florin: relations between Romania and Syria are strategic and based on strong friendship and mutual respect

Bucharest, SANA-Chairman of the Syrian-Romanian Parliamentary Friendship Committee in the Romanian Parliament, MP Florin Pușcașu stressed the depth of the relationship between Syria and Romania, which is based on strong friendship and mutual respect.

Florin said in an interview with Sana’s correspondent in Romania: diplomatic relations between Syria and Romania started in 1955 and have deepened and consolidated over the past five decades to turn into a strong friendship relationship based on mutual respect, which has paved the way to a true strategic partnership and prosperous cooperation between the two countries.

Florin explained that Syria was one of the countries that formed, with Romania, a regional map that took into account the promising prospects for defining energy infrastructure networks that are the backbone of the global economy by creating regional cooperation for five seas- the Mediterranean, the Red Sea, the Gulf, the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea, which helped improve security and stability in the region.

Florin affirmed the importance of the visit of the Romanian President to Syria in 2008, which was a step to consolidate the traditional relations that have linked the two countries for decades and led to the opening of new horizons for cooperation, as well as the importance of the visit of President Bashar al-Assad to Romania, which was established to open a new page in bilateral relations.

“For decades, Syria has been Romania’s most important partner in the Middle East. We are interested in the best relations with it, especially since it is a gateway for Romanian products in the Middle East and the Gulf region. Romania, in turn, is a potential gateway for Syrian products to European markets, and we can look to the future with great hope to restore momentum to our joint relations.” “he said.
