Presidential election starts in Russia

Moscow,SANA- Presidential Russian vote has begun this morning, and over the next three days from 15 to 17 March, Russians will elect their president for the next six years.

Four candidates will compete for the top state post in the 2024 election,they are Vladislav Davankov, incumbent President Vladimir Putin, Leonid Slutsky and Nikolay Kharitonov.

Foreign observers from 106 countries accompany the elections, including a delegation from the Syrian People’s Assembly, which visits a number of polling stations in the capital, Moscow, and its suburbs, the elections are also covered in the media by a large number of local and foreign journalists accredited to the Russian authorities.

The latest polls indicated that President Putin enjoys significant support and is expected to win a percentage exceeding 82 percent of the votes of actual participants in the elections.

President Putin’s popularity, is due to his firm positions in defending Russia’s sovereignty, the independence of its political and economic decisions, and continuing to strengthen its armed forces.
