Riyadh, SANA-Nothing can hinder the development of friendly relations between Moscow and Riyadh, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed during his meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh.
“While here in the region on a planned visit to the UAE, I took advantage of your invitation to meet with you and all the other friends we’ve been developing ties with for the past seven years,” TASS quoted Putin as saying.
The Russian President pointed out that the Soviet Union was one of the first countries to recognize the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as an independent state.
Putin added: “Over the past seven years, relations have gained momentum and reached an unprecedented level,” pointing out that the two countries enjoy stable relations in the spheres of political, economic and humanitarian cooperation.
For his part, Bin Salman stressed that cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Russia helps ensure security in the Middle East, saying: “We have many common interests, within the framework of which we work to achieve stability and development throughout the world and in the Middle East region.”
He added: “Over the past few years, we have achieved great results in the bilateral cooperation process, including in the fields of energy, agriculture, trade, investment and other fields, and the two countries have great opportunities to expand cooperation.”
