Damascus,SANA- Embassy of Federal Republic of Brazil in Damascus held a reception Thursday evening on the 201st anniversary of National Day of Brazil at Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts (Damascus Opera House) .
“Brazil appreciates the Syrian people who have helped it with their skills and hard work in building Brazil since 150 years, Brazilian Ambassador Andre Santos said.
Santos thanked Syria deeply, stressing Brazil’s keenness to stand by Syria, support it, and establish stronger and deeper relations with it in all fields.
Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Hussein Makhlouf, hailed the relations between Syria and Brazil ,stressing that the official visits exchanged between the leaders of the two countries constituted a strong momentum and a basis for enabling cooperation to serve the interests of the two peoples, through a number of bilateral agreements in the fields of health, agriculture, tourism, sports and culture.
Minister Makhlouf praised Brazil’s position in support of Syria in its war against terrorism, as Brazil supported the unity and sovereignty of Syrian territories, the independence of its decision, and non-interference in its internal affairs, in addition to its efforts to support Syria in earthquake catastrophe struck the country on the 6th of last February by providing humanitarian aid, especially food and medicines.
On the occasion of Brazil’s National Day, the Brazilian Embassy held a musical evening at the Opera House, entitled “Two Hundred Years of Brazilian Music”, performed by the Syrian National Symphony Band, accompanied by the Brazilian Band of Americata.
