Canadian soldier killed by “friendly fire” in Iraq

Toronto, SANA, A Canadian special forces soldier was killed and three others wounded in Iraq on Friday, to be the first soldier killed in Canadians mission in the country.

Canadian Defense Ministry said in a statement that the soldiers, of the Canadian Special Operations, were mistakenly engaged by friendly forces following their return to an observation post behind the front lines.

About 600 Canadian troops, including 70 members in northern Iraq Kurdistan, are in Iraq as part of coalition led by the US.
