Damascus, SANA- The harvested areas of wheat crop, of the current season, have reached up till now about 599,301 hectares, of which 184,701 hectares are in safe areas, according to the Director of plant production at Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Ministry, Ahmad Haidar.
Eng. Haidar told, SANA in a statement, that the quantities marketed for the Syrian Grain Foundation amounted to 243,613 tons.
“the harvested area of the Barley crop has reached up till now, 964,835 hectares, of which 314,199 hectares are in safe areas, and 20,023 tons of its production were marketed to the General Establishment for Fodder and 4,081 tons to the General Organization for Seed Multiplication”, Eng., Haider added.
He indicated that the harvested area of the lentil crop has reached up till now 78,020 hectares out of the total cultivated area of 81,549 hectares, and 8,450 hectares of chickpeas have been harvested from a total area of 46,816 hectares.
“The area cultivated with cotton so far has reached 26,128 hectares, of which 6,993 hectares are in safe areas, while the area cultivated with potatoes during the spring season is 12,273 hectares and1,231 during the summer season”, according to Haider.
