Damascus Countryside, SANA- With the participation of 320 local and regional brands, 20th session of the International Exhibition for Construction – (BUILDEX -2023) kicked off on Wednesday evening.
The expo is organized by the Arab Group for Exhibitions, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, on the grounds of the new Fairgrounds in Damascus Countryside.
In a statement to reporters, Minister of Public Works and Housing, Eng. Suhail Abdel Latif, underscored the importance of the wide and varied participation of local companies from the public, private, Arab and international sectors in the exhibition, which contributes to advancing the economic wheel and the urban and construction movement in the country forward.
Minister Abdul Latif added that the reconstruction process has not absent from the Syrian government’s action plan, as the ministry and various government agencies have worked to mobilize their cadres and companies specialized in the field of construction and reconstruction after the liberation of different areas from terrorist groups and starting to restore their infrastructure.
He noted that the unjust coercive measures and the unjust siege imposed on Syria have greatly affected the Syrian people, especially after the disaster of the earthquake, stressing the importance of Arab openness to Syria and assistance in reconstruction.
Abdul Hakim al-Nuaimi, Chargé d’affaires of the UAE Embassy in Damascus, affirmed that the exhibition is distinguished with the products and supplies showcased by companies in their specialized pavilions in the field of construction and reconstruction.
For his part, Brazilian Ambassador to Damascus, Andre Luiz dos Santos, pointed out that such exhibitions represent a turning point that pushes Syria forward after years of suffering and the unfair economic blockade imposed on it.
The Trade Representative in the Russian Federation, Dr. George Asatryan, indicated that this exhibition is an important platform for displaying various local and international products, and provides an opportunity to get acquainted with friendly Arab and international businessmen and companies and develop relations between them.
The exhibition, which will last till June 11th, opens its doors to visitors daily from 05:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. with free transportation for visitors throughout the days of the exhibition.
