Damascus, SANA- Director General of Civil Aviation Authority in Syria, Basem Mansour has affirmed that one of the airlines has started operating civilian flights between Damascus and Athens.
Mansour added that this route will later be connected to the cities of Dusseldorf in Germany and Stockholm in Sweden.
He told SANA that the Air Mediterranean will start its flights from Athens to Damascus and vice versa at a rate of one flight per week, as passengers will be able to continue their their journeys from Athens to numerous European destinations.
Mansour emphasized that the airline will provide direct regular flights between Athens and Damascus, which will help alleviate the travel burden for all residents in Europe.
He added that the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO) affiliated with Arab League had informed the Syrian side of resuming all its activities and events, indicating that this step would encourage the Arab countries to activate flights to Damascus.
