Iranian Ambassador to Syria visits Lattakia to support efforts of addressing earthquake impacts

Lattakia, SANA- Iranian Ambassador to Syria Mahdi Sobhani visited Tuesday Lattakia province with a convoy of food and relief aid for the affected people due to the earthquake hit the country on February 6th.

Sobhani met Latatkia Governor Amer Hilal ,with the two sides discussing damage caused by the earthquake and the difficulties that faced the search efforts and the initial response of the government, including lack of mechanisms and weak capabilities due to the circumstances of the war, the blockade, the economic sanctions imposed on Syria.

Speaking at a press statement following the meeting, Sobhani underlined that Iran will continue to provide aid to the quake- affected people, noting that the aid convoy is provided by the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, and the Iranian companies and the community living in Syria to alleviate the suffering of the affected.

Hilal, in turn, thanked Iran for supporting Syria in these difficult circumstances, stressing the strong ties of brotherhood between the two countries.
