Syrian-Iranian talks to bolster scientific and technological cooperation

Tehran, SANA- Iran’s Vice-President for Science and Technology Affairs Sorena Sattari discussed on Wednesday with Minister of Higher Education Mohamed Amer al-Mardini mechanisms of strategic cooperation between Syria and Iran in the way that advances technological and scientific sector in Syria.

Sattari affirmed during the meeting Iran’s readiness to offer all requirements in scientific sector and increasing the number of academic scholarships, saying that Iran has many scientific and medical centers which are ready to fully cooperate with Syrian universities and scientific institutions.

Both sides emphasized the importance of formulating a joint committee to follow up on cultural and scientific cooperation and remove obstacles.

Fn his part, al-Mardini highlighted the extraordinary circumstances Syria is passing through and the necessity of giving special attention to educational sector under sanctions imposed on Syria, particularly in science, researches and technology.

The exchange of scientific scholarships will contribute to building scientific capabilities in Syria, he added.

In the same context, Minister al-Mardini also discussed with Dr. Hassan Emami Razavi, the head of Tehran’s Neuroscience Research Center, the mechanisms and fields of cooperation in stem cells, neurological diseases and bone marrow transplant.

Dr. Emami Razavi stressed readiness to grant g postgraduate scholarships for Syrian students and host training courses for Syrian doctors in some specializations that Syria needs.
