Shoigu announces large-scale changes in Russian army

Moscow, SANA- Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced on Tuesday large-scale changes in the Russian army from 2023 to 2026.

Novosti news agency quoted Shoigu as saying following a meeting of the military administration that the number of the Russian armed forces will increase to 1.5 million personnel, as part of the changes that are being taken in the period from 2023 to 2026.

“These large-scale changes in increasing the army size and changing the military-administrative division of Russia will require all deputy ministers, commanders-in-chief of all sectors of the Armed Forces, commanders of military districts, the Northern Fleet and branches of the Armed Forces to take appropriate decisions related to strengthening the combat capabilities of the Navy, Air Force and Strategic Forces,” Shoigu said.
