EU lawmaker: West fast-tracked access of terrorists to Syria

Warsaw, SANA- President of the Polish Congress of the New Right Michael Marusik, who is a European Parliament member, affirmed that the West’s flawed policies about Syria have led to terrorist organizations permeating the Arab country.

During his meeting with Dr. Idriss Mayya, charge d’affaires of the Syrian embassy in Warsaw, Poland’s capital and largest city, Marusik called on all countries to reconsider their stances towards Syria and to start supporting Syrian government in combating terrorism.

He also pointed to a tangible shift inside the European Parliament vis-à-vis the crisis in Syria, highlighting his role in clarifying the truth about the situation in Syria and the danger of spreading terrorism not only in Syria but also in the entire region and Europe.

“Our countries’ future had been drawn after World War II by great powers,” he noted.

“President Bashar al-Assad is struggling for Syria to preserve its independence and for the Syrian people to have their own right in drawing their future by themselves, in which you have our support,” Marusik added.

For his part, Dr. Mayya briefed Marusik on the latest developments in Syria and its war against terrorism which is supported by well-known regional countries, asserting that the Syrian government and people are determined to combat terrorism and fight terrorist organizations.

European diplomats revealed on Wednesday that European countries which had ambassadors withdrawn from Damascus have started to realize that time is ripe for further communication with Syria, especially against the backdrop of an expansion of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in the region.
