Dubai, SANA- Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Hussein Makhlouf discussed Thursday with Director General of World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO), Abdul Rahim Sultan, a number of major themes related to environmental conservation, and the investment in green projects.
The meeting comes in the sidelines of the 8th World Green Economy Summit. Minister Makhlouf reviewed the measures taken by the Syrian government to protect the environment in light of the environmental damages caused by climate change along with terrorism acts over the past years.
“A variety of Several environmental legislation and laws have been issued, most significant of which is Investment Law No. 18 of 2021” Makhlouf said, pointing out that this Law encourages sustainable community development.
“There are great opportunities for investment in Syria, particularly renewable energy projects, solid waste recycling, Eco-friendly Public Transport”, Makhlouf added.
The Minister also affirmed the importance of cooperation with WGEO to activate business investment in Syria.
For his part, Sultan showed a big interest in Syria’s proposals and the potential cooperation in this regard, saying that there is a considerable cooperation between the organisation and the private investment companies operating in environmental field.
