Syria called on UN and Security Council to issue clear and explicit condemnation of Israeli aggressions on its territory

Damascus, SANA- Syria called on the United Nations and the Security Council to issue a clear and explicit condemnation of the Israeli aggressions on its territory as a deliberate violation of the sovereignty of a member state of the United Nations.

“Syria stresses on reserving the right to respond by appropriate means that granted by international law and the Charter of the United Nations in the face of these repeated Israeli aggressions,” Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said in a letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council on Saturday.

The Israeli occupation is determined today more than ever to adopt a serious and aggressive escalation policy based on targeting civilian facilities, sabotaging infrastructure and endangering the lives of civilians, the Ministry said.

The Ministry recalled some of the Israeli occupation forces’ crimes recently committed such as attacking the Damascus International Airport on June 10, 2022, which caused the airport to go completely out of service for a period of two weeks, and when the occupation attacked the port commercial shipping of Lattakia on December 17, 2021, which caused serious damage to commercial, food and medical goods, in addition to sabotaging and destroying materials and equipment owned by the United Nations Organization in Syria.

The Foreign Ministry pointed out that the international situation in general, and in the Middle East in particular, is going through a fragile stage that does not tolerate further escalations and tensions.

The Israeli occupation authorities are determined to adopt a dangerous stereotypical approach that increases the level of threats to regional and international peace and security, and opens the door wide to tension, escalation and chaos in the region, the Ministry added.

The Ministry called on the Secretary General of the United Nations and the Security Council to issue a clear and explicit condemnation of these Israeli aggressions, as they constitute a deliberate and repeated violation of the sovereignty of a member state of the United Nations and a direct threat to the regional and international peace and security.
