Syrian-Iraqi talks to boost agricultural cooperation

Baghdad, SANA- Iraqi Minister of Agriculture, Mohammad al-Khafaji, discussed with Head of the General Union of FarmersAhmed Saleh Ibrahim, the reality of agricultural cooperation between Syria and Iraq and ways to develop it in a way that would serve the peoples of the two brotherly countries.

Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement on Thursday that, “Minister al-Khafaji underscored the importance of strengthening joint cooperation between the two countries in a way that would serve the development of the agricultural sector and the exchange of agricultural products”.

He noted that the Iraqi market is open to the products of all countries of the world, including Syria.

 Al-Khafaji stressed the need to benefit from the Syrian scientific and agricultural expertise.

He highlighted the importance of establishing a trade marketing association by the private sector in coordination with the agricultural associations of both countries, whose benefit will be reflected on farmers, traders and consumers.

 In turn, Ibrahim called for expanding the horizons of joint cooperation that serves the development of joint bilateral relations in various fields of agricultural and animal activity.

 Ibrahim expressed Syria’s readiness to strengthen relations and cooperation in this field, and its interest in facilitating the necessary measures to serve agricultural activity and trade exchange between the two countries.
