Nebenzia: US committed crimes in Syria without any accountability

New York, SANA- Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, said that the US committed crimes in Syria without any accountability and continues to occupy part of its territory.

During a session of the UN Security Council on Friday, Nebenzia criticized the double standards of the Western countries in using the International Criminal Court as a political tool by providing it with financial resources in exchange for not prosecuting its soldiers for their crimes, while they continue the illegal occupation and military aggression of sovereign countries without any accountability for such crimes.

Nebenzia addressed the Western countries by saying, “You have a long record of crimes, so if you really want to condemn aggression, first condemn your military adventures and bloody colonial wars against the indigenous peoples, and start holding yourself accountable , only then we can move closer to ensuring a just world order in which there is no place for any exceptionalism.”

The Russian delegate indicated that the US committed crimes in Syria without any accountability and continues to occupy part of its territory.

He noted that the Western states are not fulfilling their obligations under the cross-border assistance mechanism in Syria.

Nebenzia pointed out that “the West has not fulfilled their commitments under the Resolution 2585 on providing Syria with funds for early recovery programmes, of which only 3 percent have been allocated.
