Nigeria calls for lifting all sanctions imposed on Syria

Abuja, SANA- Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, called for removing the unjustified sanctions imposed on Syria, which increase the suffering of Syrians.

Onyeama, meeting with Firass al-Abdullah, the Acting Charge de Affairs at the Syrian Embassy in Abuja , highlighted the friendly relations between the two counties.

“The visit of President Bashar al-Assad to the UAE is a good development and a welcomed step… it is an indication to Syria’s return to the international and Arab arena.” The Nigerian Minister said.

He added that the sanctions imposed on Syria are unjustified and they increase the Syrians’ suffering, asserting that his country will spare no effort to support Syria and its efforts to maintain its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In turn, al-Abdullah briefed the minister on the latest developments in Syria and the region ,on top, the significant visit of President al-Assad to the UAE and its considerable results on all levels.
