Twin terrorist bombings rocked the neighborhood on October 1, 2014, targeting a school compound and leaving a trail of death in their wake. More than 45 civilians, most of them children, were killed and more than 115 others were wounded.

Premier al-Halqi condemns Homs terrorist blast

Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halqi condemned the terrorist attack that took the lives of innocent civilians in Homs city.

The Premier drove home a message of defiance as he affirmed that the attack will only sharpen the resolve of the Syrian people and government to eliminate terrorism.

In a press statement, al-Halqi said that this brutal act of terror had coincided with the Israeli aggression against Quneitra province, which he saw as another indication of the close collusion between the Israeli occupation and the terrorist organizations operating in Syria.

Premier al-Halqi said the bombing comes as a response by the terrorist organizations to national reconciliations in Homs province and across the country, pointing to a mounting resistance against terrorism that terrorist organizations have no support base whatsoever.

Concluding his statement, al-Halqi expressed grief for the loss of innocent lives, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

During his visit to al-Nahda and al-Amin Hospitals to check up on the wounded, Homs governor Talal al-Barazi described the attack as a criminal act and a desperate attempt to derail national reconciliations in Homs to undermine the Syrian people’s and Army’s steadfastness.
