Discussions to complete procedures of transferring Egyptian gas to Lebanon via Syria and Jordan

Cairo, SANA- Procedures of transferring the Egyptian gas to Lebanon through Syria and Jordan were discussed during a meeting between the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla, and the Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water Walid Fayyad.

Egyptian media outlets quoted El Molla’s statement as saying that his meeting with his Lebanese counterpart came to complete the discussions on the executive procedures and the steps that have been taken to transport the Egyptian gas to Lebanon as part of the Egyptian state‘s commitment to support Lebanon to overcome the current energy crisis by providing the gas supplies it needs.

El Molla’s noted that he and his Lebanese’s counterpart, according to the statement, followed up the course of intensive meetings held by the executives in the oil and gas sectors of both countries to complete all details related to the agreements of transporting the natural gas and agree on the timetable for its arrival to Lebanon.

For his part, Fayyad said that that it was agreed to check and evaluate the gas transmission line linking Syria and Lebanon in the framework of the required arrangements to prepare the necessary infrastructure for its transfer.

A Syrian-Lebanese delegation accompanied by Egyptian technicians have toured al-Rayyan Gas Station and al-Dabbousyia Station on Monday to check the readiness of the gas pipelines, in the framework of the project of transferring the Egyptian gas to the Lebanese side through the Arab Gas Pipeline.

On October 6th, the Syrian, Lebanese, and Jordanian Ministers of energy and electricity agreed on the agenda and timetable for restarting the existing electrical interconnection lines between the three countries’ networks.
