Damascus, SANA- The General Assembly of the Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies (AMAN) held its 29th annual virtual meeting with the participation of the Syrian Arab News Agency “SANA” and news agencies representing the Mediterranean countries.
Participants in the meeting discussed several issues related to the financial status of the union, AMAN website, the report of the General Secretariat in light of the current circumstances, the spread of Covid-19 pandemic, the contributions of member agencies, joint training and exchange of experiences during the coming period.
The participants agreed proposal of the Croatian News Agency (HINA) to host the 30th General Assembly meeting in the Croatian city of Dubrovnik next year which was scheduled to host the current meeting in light of Corona epidemic.
They also agreed proposal of the Secretary-General of the Union, George Penintaex to extend the period of work of the General Secretariat of the Union headed by Algerian News Agency (ABS) and the Secretary-General for an extra year.
The Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies comprises the news agencies of Syria, Algeria, Egypt, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Lebanon, Libya, Tunisia, Palestine, Greece, Cyprus, Albania, Serbia, Croatia, Mauritania, Morocco and Turkey.
The union aims to exchange information, boost dialogue, support development and cooperation among Mediterranean news agencies.
