Upon President al-Assad’s directives, ambassador Abdul-Karim offers condolences to Karami family

Beirut, SANA – Upon directives of President Bashar al-Assad, Syria’s ambassador in Lebanon Ali Abdul-Karim offered sincere condolences to the family of Lebanese former Prime Minister Omar Karami, who passed away early Thursday.

Karami’s family expressed appreciation for President al-Assad’s gesture, hoping that Syria will overcome terrorism and that security and stability will be restored to it.

Karami passed away Thursday morning at the age of 80 at the American University of Beirut Hospital where he was being treated for some time.

The late was born on March 17th. 1935 in Tripoli, Lebanon.

He had BA in law from Cairo university in 1956, served his country as prime minister twice, the first time from December 1990 till 1992 and the second from Oct. 2004 till Feb. 2005.

His Brother Rasheed and father Abdul-Hamid Karami also served as premiers of Lebanon.
