With Arab and foreign participation, activities of International Conference on Digital Transformation kick off

Damascus, SANA- Activities of the third round of International Conference on Digital Transformation started on Friday under the title “Syria and Digital Transformation … Opportunities and Challenges” with participation of a number of economic and social activities from Arab and foreign countries at Conferences Palace in Damascus.

The conference, which will last until April 11th, aims to find opportunities for investment and success, identify obstacles of the host country in the field of digital transformation.

It includes a scientific committee made up of academics and specialists in the field of digital, economic, and legal transformation.

In a speech delivered at the opening of the conference, Minister of Communications and Technology Iyad al-Khatib said that the government follows with great interest implementation of e-government file in Syria through direct supervision and implementing many of important projects in this regard.

Al-Khatib noted that Syria has never been far from world developments in communications and information ,as Syria was moving at an accelerated pace towards the advancement of this vital sector before the war which has been waged on the country.

He pointed out that repercussions of the war and the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on Syria have delayed the launch of many projects and retreated some of them, affirming that despite difficulties, communications and information sector is currently witnessing a well-studied plan towards the recovery phase, and is working to complete its digital programs and strategy.

The first round of the International Conference on Digital Transformation was held in the UAE in 2017 and the second was in Egypt in 2018.
