Nicosia, SANA-Syrian students studying in Cyprus and members of the Syrian community there have stressed the need for the European Union to lift the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people and end the unjust blockade imposed on them, which affects all walks of life, especially in light of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a letter sent by the National Union for Syrian Students-Cyprus Branch and Dr. Elias Dahir, Honorary Head of the Syrian community in Cyprus, to the Representative Office of the European Commission in Nicosia, the Syrian students and members of the community affirmed that the Syrian people who have suffered from terrorism and the repercussions of the unjust global war against them are still adhering to their homeland and they are the only ones who have the right to determine its future.
They demanded to end the coercive measures imposed on Syria which have caused the suffering of millions of the Syrian people.
In Rome, the Syrian community and the European Front for Solidarity with Syria in Italy have called for lifting the illegal Western coercive measures imposed on Syria immediately and completely and ending the unjust blockade.
Head of the Syrian community in Italy, Dr. Jamal Abu Abbas, and Head of the European Front for Solidarity with Syria in Italy, Giovanni Viola, stressed in a letter to the President of the European Parliament David Sassoli and a number of European Union officials the need to lift the coercive measures imposed on Syria, which has been fighting terrorism for more than ten years, and which is currently suffering from the corona virus pandemic similar to other countries of the world.
