Sabbagh: Syrian-Russian relations are deeply-rooted, strong

Damascus, SANA-Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Hammoudah Sabbagh, met on Saturday member of the Russian State Duma Council , Murad Barev, head of sports federations and an accompanying delegation.

Sabbagh described relations between Syria and Russia as “deeply- rooted,” adding that they were consolidated by the two wise leaderships in the two friendly countries.

He hoped Syrian-Russian relations would develop in all domains, including sports, appreciating the ongoing constructive and fruitful cooperation between the Olympic Council in the Russian Federation and the Olympic Committee in Syria.

For his part, Barev stressed the importance of developing Russian-Syrian relations in all fields, especially the parliamentary ones, saying that the Russian people are following with great interest the successes achieved by the Syrians in various sectors despite the difficulties their country is going through and the war that is being waged against them.

He expressed his country’s readiness to provide support to Syria, especially to the General Sports Federation in the training sector, adding that “an Olympic School will be opened in Syria to take care about the skilled and talented in sports.”
