Young artists perform within Tartous theatre festival for amateurs

Tartous, SANA – A theatre festival for amateurs has been held for the first time in the coastal city of Tartous.

The event, which will run through December 24, is meant to provide an opportunity for young artists to give expression to their talents.

A play titled “Love and War” was performed on the stage of the city’s National Theatre Thursday evening.

Radwan Jamous, who directed the play, told SANA that the play featured a number of tableaus along one line, that is of terrorism “which has crept into every place and allowed rein to obscurantist takfiris who seek to lead the cycle of life in the country backward.”

Some of the participants with whom SANA reporter spoke stressed that they will continue to pursue “our passions and realize our talents” undaunted by the unprecedentedly massive scale of terrorist activity that swept through the country prompted and supported by regional and international sides.

Jamous expressed hope that the festival could be turned into an annual tradition and include not just theatrical activities, but also music, popular and plastic arts and sculpture so as to enrich the artistic movement in the province.
