Worldwide coronavirus death toll passes 1.3 million

Capitals, SANA- The novel Coronavirus pandemic has continued to claim the lives of people worldwide while the race to reach an effective vaccine against it continues.

According to Worldometers website, the virus has claimed the lives of 1,343,709 people around the world since its emergence last December, and the total number of infections has climbed to 55, 961,152 while the recoveries reached up to 38, 976,149.

The Indian Ministry of Health revealed on Thursday that 38,617 new infections were recorded, bringing the total number of infections to 8.9 million, in addition to recording 474 deaths during the past 24 hours, bringing the total deaths to 130,993.

German data on Thursday showed that the number of new confirmed cases in the country rose to 17,561, bringing the total number of infections to 833,307, in addition to the registration of 305 deaths, bringing the total number to 13,119.

In Mexico, the Ministry of Health recorded 1,757 new infections and 165 deaths, bringing the total number of infections to one million and 11,153, and the total deaths to 99,026.

South Korea recorded 313 cases on Thursday, which is the highest number of infections since last August, as the total number of infections reached 29,311 and the total deaths amounted to 496.
