Damascus, SANA- Body of late Lebanese artist, Marwan Mahfouz, was escorted Tuesday from Al-Assad’s university Hospital in Damascus to his final resting place in Lebanon. Mahfouz died last Saturday at the age of 78 years.
“On behalf of Lebanese president Michel Aoun, On behalf of the government and Lebanese citizens, we thank very much President Bashar Al-Assad and all the ministries and agencies of the fraternal Syrian Arab Republic for the efforts exerted and the attention they paid to the Arab artist, Marwan Mahfouz, hoping all good for Syria ” Charge de’ Affairs of Lebanese Embassy in Damascus said.
Minister of Culture, Mohammad al-Ahmad, affirmed that the deceased artist was in Syria at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture to attend the “Culture triumphs” festival, noting that late Mahfouz was a true lover for Syria and his positions toward Syria did not change.
On his part, Minister of Information, Imad Sarah affirmed that “the artistic scene lost a great figure and a pyramid of Art in Syria and in Lebanon and the Arab world, but the voice of the gold larynx will remain in the memory of the original Arab singing.
