Homs production of dates expected to reach 1,475 tons

Homs, SANA- The Agriculture Directorate in Homs estimated the production dates in the province to reach 1,475 tons during the current season from the total cultivated area of 1,541 dunams.

Head of Homs Agricultural Directorate Nazih al-Refaie told SANA reporter that the total number of the irrigated trees is 130,008, of which 9,506 bear fruit, while there is no rainfed cultivated area.

Al-Refaie indicated that the cultivation of dates is focused in the Palmyra region, which is famous of several types of dates such as red and blond crystal.

Homs production of dates in the previous season amounted to 2,200 tons.
