Ala: Restoring entirety of occupied Syrian Golan is a national priority and a right

Geneva, SANA – Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva Hussam Eddin Ala said that the destruction of cities and villages and the displacement of their occupants is the essence of the criminal policy adopted by Israel since the first day of its occupation of Palestine and the Syrian Golan.

In a speech at the 43rd session of the Human Rights Council, Ala said that the Israeli occupation continues to violate international law and human rights in the occupied Arab territories, exploiting the protection provided to it by some Security Council permanent members, primarily the United States.

Ala said Syria asserts that restoring the entirety of the occupied Syrian Golan up to the June 4 1967 line by all means provided by international law is a national priority and a right that is not subject to relinquishment or prescription.

Ala added the international community has been calling for the Israeli full withdrawal from the Occupied Syrian Golan till June 4th,  1967 line, in compliance with Security Council resolutions No. 242 for the year 1967 ,338 of 1973 and 497 of the year 1981 which affirmed that Israel’s resolution  to impose its rules and judicial custody  and administration on the Occupied Syrian Golan is considered as null and void and has no legal impact.

Ala’ said that imposing the unjust siege on Gaza and its closure, restricting the movement, field killing at the checkpoints, arbitrary arrest and mock trials are considered samples of the flagrant violations committed by the Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian and Syrian people.

In this context, Syria called for lifting inhuman siege on Gaza and releasing the Syrian and Palestinian captives from the Israeli occupation prisons, particularly children, and protect Palestinian people from the random killing   perpetrated by the Israeli occupation authorities.

Ala’ said that Syria calls upon the High Commissioner for Human Rights to practice pressure on the Israeli occupation forces to open Quneitra corridor in front of  the Syrian citizens  in the occupied Syrian Golan who wish to visit their homeland and relatives in Syria.

He also called for caring about the citizens of Golan who need suitable medical treatment in light of coronavirus epidemic which poses additional threat to their lives.
