Local Administration Minister: Work underway for return of al-Yarmouk Camp locals

Damascus, SANA – The People’s Assembly on Tuesday held its third session of its regular 13th round for the second legislative term chaired by its Speaker Hammoudeh Sabbagh.

During the session, a number of MPs called on the Minister of Local Administration and Environment for supporting the administrative units, particularly in the areas which have been liberated from terrorism through providing the required vehicles and cadres.

They also called for activating the role of the reconstruction committees and ensuring the return of the locals to al-Yarmouk Camp and for establishing renewable energy projects in the provinces.

Local Administration and Environment Minister Hussein Makhlouf revealed that the Damascus Countryside Governorate will remove the rubble in al-Hajar al-Aswad neighborhood, southern Damascus, to secure the return of its locals to it, adding that work is underway for the return of the locals of al-Yarmouk Camp.

Minister Makhlouf added that one of the scenarios which has the lowest cost and which is the fastest has been chosen for organizing al-Yarmouk Camp in a civilized way, and that there are measures related to approving its organizational chart.

The Minister added that more than SYP 16 billion have been allocated for the developmental projects in the provinces to contribute to creating new job opportunities, and for finding new investments and establishing new production lines.
