Syrian artist Duraid Laham honored in Egypt…Culture united Arabs, politics failed to do that

 

Cairo, SANA Honored for his long innovative experience in pan-Arab committed plays, besides TV series and films, Arab Renowned Syrian actor Duraid Laham re-affirmed from Cairo the principles of Arab unity and the deeply-rooted Syrian-Egyptian bonds.

The guest of honor in the Egyptian Radio and TV Mondial thanked the Mondial “which has been able to embrace all the Arabs through culture and arts,a matter that politics could not do.”

Actor of “Kasak Ya Wattan” play (Homeland Toast)pointed to the story of the Syrian Icon Jules Jammal who sacrificed himself for preserving the Arabic identity of Egypt during the tripartite aggression against Egypt, referring to the Egyptian daily of al-Ahram’s headline “Jules Jammal, a Syrian Legend in his Loving for Egypt”.

On the sidelines of the Festival, the Palestinian President’s Political Advisor, also Chairman of the Board of Directors of General Authority for Palestinian Radio and Television Karam Nemer Hammad honored Laham, the Syrian actress Suszn Najm-Eddin and other Egyptian artists who attended “Palestine, the Aspired Hope” Operetta.

“Our brothers in Palestine are adopting a stance in defending freedom,” hero of al-Houdoud “The Borders” film said in a word after his honoring by Mr. Hammad.

The actor, comedian and the director Lahham was born in Damascus in 1934. Holding a BA in Chemistry, Laham worked as a teacher for a period of time. Then, he moved to the world of arts, acting comedy series in 1960’s of the past century.

The Syrian and Arab star staged plays of the well-known satirical playwright Mohammad al-Maghoutt, which soon made his fame sweep the Arab world.

Laham has recently taken part in drams series committed to the current situation taking place in the country such as “We will Come Back Soon” and “al-Kherbe.”
