Damascus, SANA – Upon the directives of President Bashar al-Assad, Presidential Affairs Minister Mansour Azzam on Sunday visited heads of Christian denominations that follow the Eastern (Julian) calendar, relaying the congratulations and best wishes of President al-Assad on occasion of Easter.
Azzam offered congratulations to Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All East, John X Yazigi, and to Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All East Mar Ignatius Aphram II.
For their part, Patriarchs Yazigi and Aphram II thanked President al-Assad for this gesture, praying to God to preserve Syria and deliver it from the terrorist war imposed on, and to protect it from all harm, particularly in light of the difficult conditions in the region and the world due to the spread of the Coronavirus.
