Aleppo Governor discusses with ICRC and UNHCR humanitarian situation

Aleppo, SANA Aleppo Governor Mohammad Marwan Olabi discussed with Simon Schorno, Head of Communications at International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Office in Damascus the relief and humanitarian work and means of ICRC’s establishing a center for artificial limbs in Aleppo.

During a meeting held on Tuesday, the Governor referred to the efforts exerted by international organizations for helping those affected by terrorism, clarifying that Aleppo Governorate in cooperation with Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC)and NGO’s in the province are exerting constant efforts to provide services to all citizens.

Schorno and the accompanying delegation reviewed the humanitarian activities implemented, stressing their coordination with SARC in the province for broadening the scope of the humanitarian work, which is backed by the government.

Moreover, the Governor reviewed with a delegation from the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR)the activities and programs which the agency is implementing, pointing out to the importance of the humanitarian work of UNHCR in Aleppo.

Adam Khalifa, UNHCR Regional Director of the Medical Department said the goal of the visit is boosting cooperation with the Governorate and Health Directorate for rehabilitating and mending the departments of al-Razi Hospital with the aim of broadening medical services.
