Lavrov: Necessity of eliminating the remaining terrorist focus in Syria

Rome, SANA- Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, affirmed the importance of eliminating the remaining terrorist focus in Syria and working for the reconstruction process and the returning of the displaced Syrians to their homeland.

“One of the most important priorities is the elimination of what has remained of terrorist hotbeds in Syria and preparing suitable conditions for the return of the displaced and this requires rebuilding the destroyed infrastructure in the country,” Lavrov said on Tuesday during a press conference of the Foreign and Defense Ministers of Russia and Italy at the conclusion of the talks in the formula of 2 plus 2.

For his part, Russian Defense Minister, Sergey Shoygu, stressed that the Syrian State has established control over 90% of its territories and there are several terrorist hotbeds in Idleb that should be eradicated.

Shoygu called for lifting the coercive economic measures imposed on Syria, particularly those which prevent importing the energy, referring that the U.S. controls over the oil wells and loot the Syrian people’s resources.
