Syria participates in Int’I symposium on states’ rights on defending their independence, sovereignty

Moscow, SANA- Russia’s Federation Council’s temporary committee held in Moscow on Tuesday a symposium on international aspects to prevent the foreign intervention in the internal affairs of the sovereign states.

Syria, Cuba, Venezuela, Serbia, China and Cambodia, in addition to Russian experts in the international relations took part in the symposium.

Chairperson of the Federation Council’s temporary committee Andrei Klimov said in an opening speech that the U.S. works on spreading chaos to destabilize internal stability in the states under the pretext of spreading and expanding democracy in the world.

The U.S. uses different terms in the internet, such like improving democracy in Russia, the humanitarian invasion, like what had happened in Yugoslavia and Syria and the term of the “system based of fixed rules”, Klimov underlined.

For his part, Syria’s Ambassador to Federal Russia Riyad Haddad said that Syria has witnessed an interference in its internal affairs during the past eight years by some countries, like the U.S. and its NATO allies in a blatant violation of the most important rules of the international law.

Those countries gave themselves the right to interfere in the internal affairs of Syria and to determine the future of its people, Haddad added.

He pointed out that those countries imposed unilateral coercive economic measures on Syria which have repercussions on all spectrums of the Syrian society and targeted their livelihood.

Ambassador Haddad pointed out that attacking the sovereignty of other countries and interfering in their internal affairs has taken new forms, particularly in Syria through clear support by some countries to the terrorist organizations and offering military, financial and political aid to them ignoring that the international law prohibits such practices.

Those countries also have illegitimately and impudently deployed their military forces in Syria to loot the treasures of the Syrian people and the resources in the eastern region, however, the Turkish latest occupation of parts of northern Syria constitutes one of the main forms of aggression on the sovereignty of states.

In turn, Cuban ambassador to Russia, Gerardo Penalver Portal underlined the importance of cooperation among Syria, Cuba and Venezuela for holding dialogue on the international level to lift imperialistic siege imposed on them.
