Shoukry: Turkish aggression on Syrian territories should immediately stop

Baku, SANA-Egyptian Foreign Ministry Sameh Shoukry reaffirmed that the Turkish aggression on Syrian territories is a violation of the international law, underlining the necessity of stopping it.

Shoukry’s remarks came in a speech during the 18th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) which was held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

“Syria is facing a new aggression against its territories which represents a breach of the UN Charter and a violation of the international law and the principles on which NAM was established, and we are calling for immediately stopping that aggression and the withdrawal of the aggressor forces,” Shoukry said.

Shoukry underlined the necessity of finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria according to the UN resolution No. 2254.

He called upon the international community to cooperate for combating terrorism which threatens international stability.

Shoukry indicated that the regimes of some states use terrorism as a tool to achieve their schemes and political goals in a way that proves the necessity of adopting a comprehensive approach for combating terrorism and that the International Security Council should play its role in holding the regimes which are involved in terrorism accountable for their acts.
