Damascus, SANA- US President Donald Trump’s provocative statements on the occupied Syrian Golan drew a storm of international condemnations and criticism as many states and parties asserted rejection of these reckless statements, and at the same time they expressed adherence to the relevant international legitimacy resolutions which assert that the Golan has always been and will remain a Syrian Arab land.
Russia strongly condemned those statements through the Kremlin, the National Security Council and the Foreign Ministry, affirming that they threaten stability in the region.
The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the Golan is a Syrian territory which has been occupied by “Israel” since 1967and that the statements of the US President on it disregard the international law.
Meanwhile the Russian National Security Council affirmed that no party should provoke the situations in the Middle East through illogical statements.
The Russian Presidency said that President Trump’s statements “threaten the stability in the Middle East.”
“Undoubtedly, such calls may significantly destabilize the already-tense situation in the Middle East. In any case, the idea per se by no means contributes to the Middle East settlement, quite the opposite,” Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Iran strongly condemns Trump’s statements on the Golan
The Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned Trump’s statements describing them as illegitimate and unacceptable.
It asserted that those statements don’t change the natural belonging of the Golan to Syria, and they prove clearly the failure of the bargaining policies and the righteousness of the resistance and steadfastness in the face of the hostile and expansionist nature of the US and the Zionist entity.
Britain says occupied Syrian Golan a land occupied by “Israel”, we have no plans to change our stance on it
In response to US President Donald Trump’s statements towards the occupied Syrian Golan, Britain affirmed that the Syrian Golan is a land occupied by “Israel” since 1967, indicating that it has no plans to change its stance towards that.
British Foreign Office spokesman said in a statement quoted by Reuters that ““The UK views the Golan as territory occupied by Israel,” asserting that the ” Annexation of territory by force is prohibited under international law, including the U.N. Charter.”
“We did not recognize Israel’s annexation in 1981 and have no plans to change our position,” the statement added.
For his part, Former British Ambassador to Syria Peter Ford said that President Trump’s declaration regarding the occupied Syrian Golan “In no way weakens Syria’s right to recover its land.”
Interviewed by Sputnik Agency, Ford clarified that “Trump’s statement makes absolutely no difference to the situation on the ground,” noting that “makes Israeli control of the Golan in no way less precarious in terms of international law, and in no way weakens Syria’s right to recover its land.”
In turn, the European Union slammed Trump’s statements towards the occupied Syrian Golan, affirming that its stance towards the Golan has never changed and that according to the international law, Israel’s sovereignty over the lands which it occupied in 1967 is not recognized.
In the same context, the French Foreign Ministry said that the Golan is a land occupied by “Israel” since 1976 and that France doesn’t recognize its annexation by “Israel” in 1981.
The Ministry added that “Recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan which is an occupied land contradicts the international law.”
Germany, on the other hand, condemned Trump’s statements, affirming that the Golan is a land occupied by “Israel” and the German Government rejects the unilateral steps.
Cuba condemns Trump’s statements, describe them as blatant violation of UN resolutions
The Cuban Foreign Ministry condemned US President’s statements on the occupied Syrian Golan.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez tweeted that “Cuba condemns the US statements on the occupied Syrian Golan, asserting that these statements constitute a blatant violation of the UN relevant resolutions.
Yemen condemns Trump’s statements, describe them as stark violation of international law
Meanwhile, the Yemeni Foreign Ministry condemned Trump’s statements on the occupied Syrian Golan, reiterating Yemen’s firm stance which considers that the Golan as a Syrian land occupied since 1967.
An official source at the Yemeni Foreign Ministry was quoted by the Yemen Saba News Agency as saying on Friday that Trump’s statement represent a stark violation of the international law and the UN resolutions.
The source affirmed that these policies will destabilize the situations in the Middle East.
