Economic Dialogue Forum affirms need for developing agriculture and industrial sectors

Damascus, SANA-Participants in the Syrian economic dialogue forum, held at Dama Rose in Damascus, under the title “Investment in Agriculture and industry to achieve Food Security,” underlined the importance of supporting the agrarian and industrial sectors and tackle the obstacles that hinder the projects in these two pivotal domains.

The participants called for encouraging and attracting investors and reconsidering the legislative structure in order to push the circle of economy and set off towards projects of reconstruction.

They pointed out to the need for setting up special agricultural and industrial projects of high revenues, improve the status of marketing and broaden the circle of external markets in addition to increasing support for the family agriculture.

Agriculture Minister, Ahmad al-Qaderi, said that the government seeks to encourage and increase the volume of investment and find a safe environment to develop it through issuing and activating a group of laws and legislation in addition to facilitating the procedures.

For his part, Industry Minister Mohammad Ma’an Zein el-Abeidin Jazbah, affirmed that there are more than 130 thousand industrial and handicraft facilities, 15% of which are nutritional industries, so this requires boosting and developing the agrarian industries as well as encouraging investment to achieve additional values in the agrarian crops.
