Homs, SANA – Female para-athlete Fidaa Shadoud’s belief in herself and strong determination motivated her to lead with disability, leap through hurdles and get top rankings in local competitions.
Shadoud, who earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English Language and Literature, told SANA Sports bulletin that she joined the para-sports technical committee in Homs in 1994 with the aim of maintaining her health and fitness as she suffered from polio which resulted in paralysis of her leg since the childhood.
In addition to para-athletics where she ranked among the top on the level of the Republic for 6 consecutive years, Shadoud also came first in 44 kg and 48 kg weight categories in the Republic Powerlifting Championship.
She also participated in several wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball coaching and judging courses.
