Aleppo, SANA – Al-Shahba Charity Bazaar, which kicked off in Aleppo city, attracted a large turnout on its second day.
29 societies and associations participated in the bazaar, which included 36 pavilions, with each pavilion reflecting tales of hope and innovation for people who challenged themselves and their ordeals to become creative and productive.
Board member of Aleppo’s Charity Associations Federation, Abdelqader Quli, said the bazaar is held after a 10-year hiatus with a view to empower charities, enable them to showcase their programs, and give them the opportunity to market the products that are made by the charities’ beneficiaries.
Member of the Syrian Society for Protection from Blindness Nour Dabbous told SANA’s reporter that the bazaar contains products and handicrafts made by 22 blind people who have been trained in handicrafts by the Association.
Aya Qutaish, an orphan from al-Fatat al-Yatima (Orphaned Girl) Association, expressed her happiness for participating in the bazaar as part of a pavilion containing food, gifts, and handicrafts made by 20 girl from the Association.
“It is an important bazaar for us. It helps us to introduce our products and market them,” Aya said.
Many societies and associations including Maa’n Nartaqi and the Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development at the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch, participated in the bazaar, with the aim of empowering vulnerable people after they have been trained by the associations in occupations and handicrafts that will help them earn a living in the future.
