Moscow warns Washington against using false allegations about Damascus’ use of chemical weapons as pretext to target Syria

Moscow, SANA – Russia has warned the US against using false allegations about the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government as a pretext to target Syria.

In a statement posted by the Russian Embassy in Washington on its Facebook page, the Embassy said it wants to warn the US against making groundless claims that Syria uses chemical weapons in order to create a pretext for launching missile attacks on Syrian facilities.

It asserted that Washington’s aim of accusing Russia of failing to fulfill its obligations in Syria is to keep an enclave of terrorists in Eastern Ghouta.

The Embassy said that Russia and Syria seek to resolve the situation in Eastern Ghouta as a five-hour truce has been announced to allow the evacuation of civilians willing to leave Ghouta area through a safe corridor, adding that terrorists’ behavior and their supporters’ attitudes hinder the delivery of aid and the evacuation of civilians, not to mention the terrorists’ continued shelling of residential neighborhoods in Damascus and its Countryside.

The Embassy said that the false statements circulated by the so called “White Helmets” organization lack credibility, affirming that there is no evidence that Washington’s claims about Damascus’ use of chemical weapons are true.
