Damascus, SANA- Work teams of the Syrian Railways Establishment on Monday started work on expanding a railway extending 17 km from al-Qadam station towards the New Fairgrounds on the Damascus International Airport road.

Transport Minister Ali Hammoud said that the railway will be put in service prior to the 60th session of Damascus International Fair, which is scheduled for September 2018.

For his part, head of Damascus Railways branch Radwan Takreiti said that the work teams will establish a station close to the New Fairgrounds which will be fully equipped to serve passengers and businessmen, in addition to building a yard for loading and unloading cargo.
