Aid delivery in Yarmouk Camp continues, 350 more food parcels delivered and five people evacuated

Damascus, SANA – Delivery of aid to Yarmouk Camp continued on Monday, carried out by the General Administration for Palestine Arab Refugees (GAPAR) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) with the support of the Syrian government.

GAPAR Director General Ali Mustafa told SANA that 350 food parcels were distributed among locals on Monday along with bread rations in Rama Street, making the total number of food packages distributed in Yarmouk Camp since January 2014 at around 47,260 packages.

He pointed out that five people with medical conditions were evacuated from the camp and rushed to hospitals, making the total number of people evacuated for medical reasons 4,480.

Earlier on Sunday, 350 food packages were distributed in Rama Street.

Yarmouk Camp, a neighborhood in southern Damascus, houses Palestinian refugees and Syrian citizens, who have been trapped there by terrorist organizations since late 2012.

Earlier, Mustafa put the number of packages containing medical supplies delivered in the neighborhood since early 2014 at more than 6, 949.

A medical center affiliated to the UNRWA has been set at the sites where aid is distributed in the Camp to provide treatment and medicines to patients.

Terrorist organizations have repeatedly attempted to hinder the implementation of any initiatives or agreements to end the crisis of the residents of Yarmouk Camp and to deliver humanitarian aid.
