Foreign Ministry condemns Hollande’s insistence on misinformation campaign against Syria

Damascus, SANA – Syria condemns French President Francois Hollande’s insistence on pushing forward with the frenzied misinformation campaign launched by the French government since the outset of the crisis in Syria, an official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said Sunday.

“This has made France a primary and direct accomplice in the shedding of Syrian blood,” the source said in a statement to SANA.

It noted that Hollande himself admitted a few days ago to providing the terrorist organizations in Syria with weapons.

“It has become clear to the entire world that Syria is facing a war by regionally and internationally-supported takfiri terrorist organizations,” the source stated.

It stressed that this support provided to the terrorist organizations “is the major reason why the crisis [in Syria] is dragging on and the armed terrorist organizations are growing, multiplying, and spreading to other countries in the region and beyond it.”

The Foreign Ministry source pointed out that “Syria has announced its willingness to cooperate with all international and regional efforts for combating terrorism which constitutes a threat to the regional and international peace and security.”

It made clear that “all the countries which have provided all forms of support to the armed terrorist organizations are today called upon to reconsider their approach so as to prove their credibility and seriousness in combating terrorism and their commitment to implementing Security Council resolution no. 2170.”

The source concluded its statement by saying that “the French public opinion has expressed condemnation of the policies of President Hollande that have made him the least popular president in the history of the Fifth Republic, and made him the last one with the right to declare himself a defender of the values of justice and human rights and claim to care for the international peace and security.”
