Boxer Monaf Asaad wins silver medal at 4th tournament of Islamic Solidarity Games

Baku, SANA – Monaf Asaad of the Syrian national boxing team won the silver medal for 91 kg competitions at the 4th tournament of the Islamic Solidarity Games held in the Azeri capital of Baku.

Monaf won the silver medal after losing the final match to the champion of Azerbaijan and the world Mahommedrasul Majidov 1-4.

The medal is Syria’s ninth in the tournament, after a gold medal went to boxer Hussein al-Masri in 49 kg category, two silver and bronze medals to swimmer Bayan Joumaa, three bronze medals to swimmer Azad al-Barazi, two bronze medals to Ahmad Ghussoun and Alaa-Eddin Ghossoun in boxing.

28 players represented Syria in 10 games at the tournament, which will continue till next Monday.
