Tehran, SANA –Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called for the formation of an “impartial” international fact-finding committee to look into a purported chemical attack in Syria.
Rouhani made his remarks during the National Summit of the Economy of Resistance and Rural Development in Tehran on Saturday.
The Iranian President noted that the issue should be investigated by impartial countries “to find out where chemical weapons had come from, who had brought them in or whether there were any chemical weapons involved or not”.
He added that the US attack on Syria violates all international laws and conventions wondering what the justifications are for committing it.
Rouhani slammed the US for taking unilateral military action against Syrian airbase and killing innocents, saying the Americans see themselves as the “world leader” and “world’s gendarme”.
“This man who is now in office in America claimed that he wanted to fight terrorism but today all terrorists in Syria are celebrating the US attack,” added Rouhani.
The Iranian President said if the Americans were really serious about fighting terrorism, they would not have helped terrorists by attacking Syria.
