On Mother’s Day.. Syrian women have become a beacon to others who look for strength, love, patience, sacrifice and heroism

Damascus, SANA – After six years of terrorist war, the Syrian Mother has become a beacon to whom others look for strength of love, patience, sacrifice and heroism.

Mother’s Day in Syria has its significance as it celebrates and honors women who offered their sons to defend the homeland in the face of all enemies. Despite the pain and suffering, the Syrian mother stood steadfast with determination to complete their mission and bring up good generations who will contribute to shape a better future that is full of hope, beauty and love.

Minister of Social Affairs Rima al-Qadiri extended heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the Syrian mothers who proved their ability to have a positive and influential role in building society and never hesitated to sacrifice their sons for the sake of the homeland.

Al-Qadiri underlined the Ministry’s efforts and cooperation with other state institutions to provide help and support to the mothers of martyrs and injured soldiers.
Minister of State for Organizations and Federations Affairs Dr. Salwa Abdullah said that the Syrian women stood as pillar of the steadfastness of their country for their strength and ability to overcome their wounds and suffering and launch humanitarian initiatives to help each other in these circumstances.

Sabah al-Salloum, wife of martyr Brigadier-General Mounzer Hassan al-Salloum, is a mother of seven children. She said that the patience of martyrs’ mothers conveys a message that Syria will remain strong and steadfast and the sons will follow in the footsteps of their fathers till achieving victory.

Ratiybah Mer’i, wife of martyr Rajab al-Atrash, is a mother of 6 children two of which are soldiers in the ranks of the Syrian Arab army. She said that the mother’s main role is to bring up children on good morals and national principles to defend the homeland.

Wife of martyr Taha Habboush highlighted the support and care provided by the government to women in Syria, particularly the families of martyrs.

Engineer Reham Bashour underlined the importance of the Mother’s Day in shedding light on the mothers’ sacrifices during the war through protecting and fortifying their children in the face of the terrorist and takfiri mentality.
