Premier Khamis tours al-Hamidiye Market, affirms government’s determination to work towards improving production

Damascus, SANA – Prime Minister Imad Khamis on Monday toured al-Hamidiye Market in the Old City in Damascus, meeting ship-owners, craftsmen, and citizens.

Meeting a number of shop-owners in one of the mosaics shops in the market, Khamis was briefed on the difficulties, issues, and challenges affecting trade in the market, which include electricity rationing, the difficulty of providing paperwork for hand-crafted items, customs, taxes, and shipping, and they provided suggestions for improving work in the markets.

The Prime Minister asserted that improving production is one of the priorities of the government, particularly when it comes to small projects, affirming the government’s determination to taking all possible steps to improve production in the public and private sectors and procure its needs, pointing out to steps taken in this regard such as exemptions from fees and fines and rescheduling loans.

He stressed that the government is open to all citizens, particularly people working in commerce and industry due to their role in restoring production and fighting inflation.
