ICRC voices intention to supply Daraa Governorate with needed ambulances

Daraa, SANA – Governor of Daraa Mohammad Khaled al-Hannous discussed on Wednesday with a delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) mission operating in Syria the situation of joint projects and mechanisms of developing emergency response operations.

The Governor highlighted the fruitful cooperation with the international organization in general and the Governorate’s keenness to provide the necessary facilitations to help ensure the success of the mission’s work in Daraa province.

He noted that 4 public hospitals and 27 health centers have gone out of service and 39 ambulances were damaged due to terrorism, stressing that the Governorate is exerting efforts to put the Central Hospital in the city of Daraa back into service and working on opening new departments and repairing 5 damaged ambulances.

al-Hannous told the ICRC delegation that Daraa Governorate needs more ambulances to meet needs in the province.

Gonzalez Andres Martinez Jara of the ICRC mission’s emergency affairs department said the visit aims at inspecting the situation of services provided in the province and assessing the needs so as to work on providing more support to the branch of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) and the Health Directorate in Daraa to help reduce their burdens.

He referred to the mission’s intention to provide ambulances along with the necessary teams and spare parts.
